Join Us in Heaven Someday

Of all the things a person does in one’s lifetime, nothing is as important as is getting to know the God of heaven. For if we die and never take time for Jesus Christ we will spend all of eternity burning in the fires of hell. What a waste of a precious God-given life! We are made in the image of God with an eternal soul that will live either in heaven or be sent to the lake of fire forever. But God loves all of us and you very much; and does not want any of us to go to such a terrible place of torment. Because of this love for us, He has set forth a plan whereby all of us can go to heaven and escape the fires of hell if we allow Him. Let me now go through a few points that we must know of this plan.

1.      First, we all must realize the state that we are in. All of us are sinners and are totally unworthy of heaven. Romans 3:23 – For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God. Even though we may look nice on the outside God knows all of the lies, hatred, envy, backbiting, and wickedness that is on the inside. I Samuel 16:7 – for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.

2.      The price for sin is eternal separation from God in hell. Revelation 21:8 – But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

3.      Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is our only hope for salvation.  Colossians 1:13,14 – Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: It is His precious blood that can wash away our sins. Hebrews 9:12 – Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.

4.      Now the only question is – How is this blood applied to our own individual hearts to wash away our own sins? The answer is – Simply by faith ask Jesus to wash away your sins and save you. Romans 10:13 – For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. The Philippian jailor plainly asked this same question. Acts 16:30,31 – Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

Some people say that this is just too simple of a way to get to heaven. And I then ask them, “Do you want God to make it harder for us to get to heaven?” The reason it is so simple is because God actually loves us and wants us in heaven with Him. Also, it is easy for us because Jesus did all of the work when He died on the cross. We simply have to trust Jesus Christ as our Saviour and He will wash all our sins away and write our name in the Lamb’s Book of Life which is in heaven.

When I was just 13 years old, I prayed and asked Jesus to save me. The prayer went something like this: Dear Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and deserve to go to hell. I do not want to go there, so please come into my heart and wash away my sins and take me to heaven when I die. Thank you for saving me just now. Please help me to be a good Christian. Amen. Immediately, Jesus washed my sins away and began building me a mansion in heaven for when I go there. Jesus would do the same for you if you would just believe Him and ask Him to save you also. I hope you will.
